Tony Thomas (born December 7, 1948) is a television comedy writer and producer. He is the co-creator of The Golden Girls and its spin-off, The Golden Palace.

Tony is the son of late actor/entertainer Danny Thomas and brother of actress Marlo Thomas of That Girl TV series fame, and actress Terre Thomas. He is also the brother-in-law of TV talk show host/journalist and TV personality Phil Donahue, Marlo's husband.

Career[]

In addition to these sitcoms, Tony, along with his two production team partners, Paul Junger Witt and wife Susan Harris, also created numerous TV series; the shows Harris wrote included Soap, Benson, Nurses, and Empty Nest. Other shows produced by the Thomas-Witt-Harris production team include Fay, It Takes Two, Nurses, Good & Evil, The Golden Palace and The Secret Lives of Men.[1]

Personal life[]

Tony married television producer Ann Souder on Christmas Eve, 2005 in Montecito, California. They reside in Montecito, as well as New York City.

Tony also serves as a member of the ALSAC/St. Jude Boards of Directors and Governors, directing the operation of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital that his father had founded.
