Biography[]
Blanche began dating Rex and thought he was a wonderful person with a small temper but Dorothy saw that Rex was more than a bit of a bully. When Dorothy confronted Blanche about it, she was shocked, telling her that Rex had never laid a hand on her and Dorothy tells her that not all abuse is physical. After Rex stood Blanche up three times, called her names, told her she dressed wrong and complained that she's always late, Blanche still doesn't see that Rex is a bully and she even tells Dorothy to keep her mouth shut and mind her own business. Later, Rex shows up for another date and Dorothy tells him that Blanche will be another minute. Rex complains about them running into traffic and how he hates that Blanche is never ready on time. Dorothy comments on how Rex seems to hate a lot of the things Blanche does but then says she'll stay out of their business. Rex asks Dorothy to hurry Blanche up, to which Dorothy refuses. Rex grunts that he has to teach Blanche what being on time means, to which Dorothy responds she doesn't want him teaching her anything. Rex tells Dorothy she's getting on his nerves but Dorothy refuses to back down and expresses her disapproval of the way he's been treating Blanche. Dorothy then claims that she can't necessarily stop Blanche and Rex from seeing each other but there's no way she's going to do Rex's dirty work for him. Rex accuses Dorothy of not minding her own business, going as far as to aggressively grab Dorothy's arm. Dorothy exclaims that Rex is hurting her, just as Blanche and Sophia enter the living room. Blanche then orders Rex out of her house and he apologizes, insisting that he doesn't mean the things he says but she stands firm and he tells her if he walks out the door, he's not coming back. Blanche tells him that's a promise she's going to make sure he keeps and he leaves. After slamming the door, Blanche apologizes to Dorothy for not believing her. Dorothy tells Blanche that most people in abusive relations have to hit bottom before they can get out and she was lucky.[1]
