Rebecca Sue Devereaux is the daughter of Blanche Devereaux. She first appears in the Season 3 episode of the The Golden Girls titled "Blanche's Little Girl". The part of Rebecca is played by actress Shawn Schepps and later by actress Debra Engle.
About Rebecca[]
Rebecca is a model who works all over the world and attended the University of France to pursue her career. Blanche hadn't seen her daughter in 4 years and upon seeing her, she is surprised to see her daughter had gained so much weight. She also got engaged to a man named Jeremy who did nothing but insult her. Blanche had a talk with Rebecca and encouraged her to call off the engagement but an angry Rebecca doesn't listen and leaves her mother's home. She soon realizes her mother was right and returns to tell Blanche she has dumped Jeremy.
In a later season, a slimmed down Rebecca tells her mother that she is getting artificially inseminated, which leads them to have another fight. Blanche doesn't approve of Rebecca having a baby out of wedlock and raising the baby without a father but Blanche later realizes that Rebecca's a grown woman who has the right to make any decision she wants with her own life.
When Rebecca is near her due date, she asks her mother to be there for the birth. When they visited an alternative birthing center, Blanche wasn't impressed and when Rebecca heard a pregnant mother's screams, she decides that the hospital is a better choice. Rebecca later gives birth to a daughter, whom she names Aurora Devereaux.
After Aurora was born, Blanche is a babysitter for Rebecca but when she takes Aurora with her during a theater audition, a man mistakes Blanche as the baby's mother and so Blanche has Aurora every time she has a date. After Rebecca says how wonderful Blanche's relationship is with the baby, Blanche's guilt forces her to tell her date the truth and he dumps her for her dishonesty. Rebecca accuses her mother of using her granddaughter to "land a man". Rebecca decides to leave for good. When she comes back for Aurora's things, Sophia convinces her not to turn her back on Blanche and they make up.
