M.D., P.O.V. is the fifteenth episode of the second season of Empty Nest and the thirty-seventh episode overall. Directed by Steve Zuckerman and written by David Sacks, Rob LaZebnik, and David Tyron King, it premiered on NBC-TV on February 3rd, 1990.
A reporter attempts to follow Harry through his day, and interviews Carol, Barbara, Laverne and Charley when Harry keeps trying to avoid her. Meanwhile, a sick young boy is steadily deteriorating with no apparent cause, and Harry fears the boy may be at death's door.
Charley tells Alexandra that he always thought the camera added a cup size. This is a reference to the phrase "the camera adds ten pounds", a very general phrase in photography meaning that the lens can actually make a person look heavier and ugly, which is in fact not true.
