Lurlene Moss is a recurring character in the 1988 NBC sitcom Empty Nest. She is the best friend of Laverne Todd, hailing from the small town of Hickory, Arkansas.
Lurlene appeared in three episodes of Empty Nest. She is portrayed by Jana Arnold.
Personality and Characteristics[]
Lurlene is Laverne’s countrified best friend who comes to visit a few times and talks to Laverne on the phone often. She’s not very wordy and not nearly as outspoken as Laverne. Her complete argument against putting a traffic light at Hickory's biggest intersection was simply "We don't need it."[1] Moreover, an invitation to her wedding simply read "I'm getting married" and nothing else.[2]
In one visit, Lurlene accuses Laverne of being citified but later sees that it’s the fault of “the citified dandy” she works for.[3]
Biography[]
Background[]
Lurlene was born in 1959[4] in the small town of Hickory, Arkansas. She was best friends with Laverne Higgby. The two of them had many inside jokes, including one about walking a woodchuck.
After Laverne moved away from Hickory, Lurlene kept in contact with her and the two exchanged regular phone calls.
