Love, Rose was the 10th episode of Season 2 of The Golden Girls, also the 35th overall episode. Directed by Terry Hughes, and written by Kathy Speer and Terry Grossman, it premiered on NBC-TV on December 13, 1986.

Dorothy and Blanche make up a fictional man who "responds" to Rose's personals ad.

Blanche and Dorothy write letters from a fictitious suitor in response to Rose's previously-unanswered personals ad, in hopes of cheering her up after a prolonged "dating slump." Meanwhile, Sophia is pursued by an English gentleman she met at the senior center.

Scene execerptsEdit

  • Dorothy: Oh come on now Rose, don't let this bother you. You'll date again.

Blanche: Of course she will. Honey have you given any thought to advertising?

  • Rose: Oh Blanche! I could never dress the way you do. Besides, I have to wear undies. Not all my wool skirts are lined.

  • Isaac Q. Newton: [after Dorothy and Blanche come clean] I'm glad you cleared that up. I was beginning to remember writing those letters.
