Life Goes On, Part 2 is the twenty-second episode of the fifth season of Empty Nest and the one-hundred and seventieth episode overall. Directed by Steve Zuckerman and written by Paul B. Price, Dennis Snee, Steven Sullivan, and Ursula Ziegler, it premiered on NBC-TV on April 29th, 1995. It is the series finale.
With the gang fretting over Laverne’s elopement, Kevin comes to see Carol and the two decide to get married with Laverne’s father performing the ceremony. Laverne and Matt return unhitched and the ceremony becomes a double wedding. Barbara returns home to pack her things, but Harry has second thoughts about moving.
This is the final installment of the Golden Girls television universe, and marks the final appearance of the Empty Nest cast and Estelle Getty as Sophia Petrillo.
This is the first on-screen appearance of Libby Weston.

Grace Zabriskie, who portrays Laverne's mother Scarlett, previously appeared the pilot episode as Eva Barrett.[2]
