Life Goes On, Part 1 is the twenty-first episode of the fifth season of Empty Nest and the one-hundred and sixty-ninth episode overall. Directed by Steve Zuckerman and written by Peter Gallay, it premiered on NBC-TV on April 29th, 1995. It is the series finale.
When the clinic closes due to an asbestos problem, Laverne persuades Maxine to go to Hickory with her to help plan her wedding, which is quickly going overboard thanks to Laverne's mother. Carol announces her engagement to Kevin, but is devastated when Harry decides to sell the house and accept a teaching job in Vermont.
