Dr. Jonathan Newman is a major one-off character in the NBC sitcom The Golden Girls. A then-boyfriend of Rose Nylund, Jonathan's dwarfism initially made Rose and her roommates uncomfortable, but Rose got over her discomfort after realizing she genuinely wanted a relationship with him. However, Jonathan soon ended the relationship on his own, as he wasn't comfortable seeing someone who wasn't Jewish.
He is portrayed by Brent Collins.

Biography[]
Jonathan was raised in a Jewish family, and his religion was extremely important to him. At some point in the past, he got a job at the grief counselling center in Miami, Florida.
Jonathan's only appearance is in "A Little Romance", where he has begun seeing Rose. The ladies didn't know how to behave around Jonathan at first, because he was a dwarf. After getting over her discomfort over people looking at them funny, Rose realizes she wants to be with him. However, when she tells him at a restaurant that she wants to be with him, Jonathan breaks up with her because she isn't Jewish.[1]
