You know, Gerard, in a way I pity Dr. Gant. As brilliant as she is, she's unable to grow. And what's even sadder is...I'm about to order a pound of your most expensive caviar and put it on her account.
— Harry reflecting on his breakup with Lydia; "A Flaw is Born" (1990)

A famous brain surgeon whose relationship with Harry was the focus of "A Flaw is Born". Harry and Lydia seemed to enjoy each others' presence, but Lydia being frequently called away for work and people around them being baffled that Harry was dating someone as influential as her led Harry to feel insecure about their relationship. Harry eventually realized that he was insecure about Lydia's success, as growing up in the time he had led him to have expectations to be the successful one in a relationship. Once he realized this, he was willing to put aside his ways of thinking to make his relationship with Lydia work. Much to his surprise, however, Lydia thought the same way he did, and broke off their relationship because she wanted to be with a man who was more successful than she was.[3]
