Harry's Choice is the thirteenth episode of the second season of Empty Nest and the thirty-fifth episode overall. Directed by Steve Zuckerman and written by Mitchell Hurwitz, it premiered on NBC-TV on January 13th, 1990.
Furious when she isn't allowed to testify against a mobster she spent months tracking, Barbara impulsively resigns from the police force. Harry encourages her to take a job in real estate, then agonizes over whether his advice is best for her or just a reflection of his anxieties. Carol desperately saves money to try and pay for Harry's birthday present -- an oil painting of herself.
