Buddy Rourke is an older man of average height, light gray hair and black eyebrows. He is Irish.
Episode Information[]
Buddy comes to Miami looking for Rose, he said that while they have never met, he knows her through Charlie who he served with in the War. From that moment he and Rose go on dates, where he describes what Charlie told him of her and St Olaf. While Buddy enjoys hearing Rose's stories, he admits that he didn't have anybody home to send him letters and her letters to Charlie made him feel that somebody did care for him but that he fell in love with Rose.
That night Rose reveals to the others that Buddy wants her to move to Boston with him, as she describes her plans, the girls give her their blessing. When asked about their financial affairs Rose tells them that they will be keeping it separate but Rose will sending Buddy a large amount from her own account for him to find them a home back in Boston.
The next day Dorothy tells Blanche the research she found out on Buddy. He never fought in the War with Charlie, he was working at the Army Pension Office, his plan was to con Rose out of Charlie's War Pension, he has done it before, all he knew about Charlie was in the file, while he knew about Rose and St Olaf, her overenthusiastic memory helped give him things to talk about. Rose has been to the bank and so they hope that Rose comes home soon. Rose tells Buddy she isn't going to Boston, she has decided that she likes the happiness he has given her but she doesn't love him and so she gives him a parting gift of Charlie's watch. Feeling guilty in the way Rose trusted him, he tells her that he doesn't want her to follow him and he leaves without taking the watch. While Dorothy wants to tell Rose the truth Sophia tells Dorothy if Rose is happy and she wasn't harmed let her have that.
