Aurora Devereaux is a minor recurring character in the 1985 NBC sitcom The Golden Girls. She is the daughter of Rebecca Devereaux and the granddaughter of Blanche and George Devereaux.
Aurora appeared in two episodes of The Golden Girls.
Biography[]
Birth[]
Aurora was conceived by artificial insemination, which her grandmother Blanche was unhappy about due to her old-fashioned ideas about parenthood. However, she understood Rebecca had her own life. She was born on September 22nd, 1990, with her mother and grandmother at her side.[1]
Early life[]
Aurora seemed to be a typical baby; she clearly was the delight of Rebecca, while Blanche would babysit her as long as it didn't intrude on her personal life. One afternoon, Rebecca dropped Aurora off at Blanche's home so that she could go to a job interview, and Blanche went to audition for a play while she babysat Aurora. Aurora's crying ended up costing Blanche her chance at the part she wanted, but she ended up catching the eye of fellow tryout Jason Stillman, Jason believed that Blanche was Aurora's mother, and asked her out after the auditions because he found her strength inspiring. This boosted Blanche's ego, and she allowed Jason to believe that she was Aurora's mother and brought Aurora out on dates with Jason.
However, Rebecca remarked on the bond Blanche had with her granddaughter and Blanche is forced to tell her date the truth. As a result, her date dumps her. Rebecca accused her mother of using her granddaughter to "land a man." and decides to leave. However, Rebecca reconsidered when Sophia talked about how it's a bond that should never be misused.[2]
Aurora was never seen after this episode, but Rebecca did appear in The Golden Palace.
