Angelo Grisanti, Jr. is a recurring character in the 1985 NBC sitcom The Golden Girls. He is the brother of Sophia Petrillo, and the uncle of Dorothy Zbornak and her siblings. Originally believed to be a priest from Sicily, Angelo never joined the priesthood because he fell in love with his future wife Philomena. Eventually, he moved to Miami after losing his business and moved into the apartment building that Stanley and Dorothy Zbornak had inherited from Stanley's late Uncle Morris, which allowed Dorothy to allow her uncle Angelo to live in the apartment for free.
Angelo appeared in six episodes of The Golden Girls. He was portrayed by the late Bill Dana.
Personality and Traits[]
Angelo is also a self-described "butt man", as he fell in love with his wife largely due to her having an attractive backside.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Angela was born somewhere between 1889[1] to Don Angelo Grisanti, Sr. and Eleanor Grisanti. Whether or not he was drafted into World War I isn't known.
Angelo allegedly promised Eleanor that he would join the priesthood. In 1914, when Angelo was at least twenty-five,[2] he prepared to send in an application for the priesthood and stopped over at a restaurant along the way. While eating there, he met a waitress name Philomena, who he described as having a backside so round "that you want to drop to your knees and cry out at its magnificent regal beauty". No longer interested with joining the priesthood, Angelo tore up his application and asked Philomena to marry him. They were married for seventy-two years until Philomena passed away in 1986.[3]
Moving to Miami[]
Eventually he moved to Miami after losing his business, although what business it was never mentioned. He moved into the apartment of Stan's late Uncle Morris whom Stan and Dorothy inherited the apartment building from, which allowed Dorothy to allow her uncle Angelo to live in the apartment for free.
